Eligibility to Study in Canada

To study in Canada, international students need to meet certain academic, language, and financial requirements. Here’s an overview:

  • Undergraduate Programs: Completion of secondary education equivalent to Canadian high school with required grades.
  • Postgraduate Programs: A recognized undergraduate degree in a relevant field.

Each program may have specific requirements, so it’s important to check the criteria for your chosen institution and course.

Canada’s two official languages mean institutions may require proof of proficiency in English or French:

  • English: IELTS (minimum scores typically 6.0-6.5), TOEFL, or PTE.
  • French: DELF or TEF tests, depending on the institution and program requirements.

Students must show proof of funds to cover tuition, living expenses, and return transportation. The minimum amount typically required for living expenses is CAD 10,000 annually, but it can vary based on location.

Health insurance is required for international students, and coverage depends on the province. Some provinces include students in public health insurance, while others require private insurance.
